Senior Frontend Developer

Full Time

Based in London, MachineMax is an award winning and dynamic tech start up aiming to disrupt the construction and mining industries with our leading digital services and solutions, helping them reduce cost, improve productivity and become more sustainable by reducing missions. We are looking for an eager and ambitious individual with experience in React and Typescript to help us developing and maintaining our award winning web platform, joining our team of talented engineers, designers and sales and marketing people through the next stage of our growth journey.


Reporting  to  the  frontend  tech  lead,  this  role  will  be  on  developing  user  interface  components  and implementing  them  following  well-known  React  workflows  (such  as  Redux).  You  will  ensure  that  these components and the overall application are robust and easy to maintain. You will coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and quality product is important.

As a Senior React Engineer, you will:

  • Developing the latest user-facing features using React and Typescript
  • Designing a modern highly responsive web-based user interface
  • Building reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
  • Translating designs and wireframes into high-quality code
  • Learn and understand user interactions
  • Optimising components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers
  • Coordinating with various teams working on distinct layers
  • As a React Developer, you will be involved from conception to completion with projects that are technologically sound and aesthetically impressive.

Candidate profile

  • An excellent team player
  • Strong proficiency in Typescript with functional components and hooks, including DOM manipulation
  • Thorough understanding of React, Redux and its core principles
  • Familiarity with newer specifications of EcmaScript
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge of modern authorisation mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools
  • Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.
  • Experience writing unit tests and integration tests for complex web applications (Jest, Enzyme)
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • A knack for benchmarking and optimisation
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools like Git
  • Willing to be flexible, operational and hands on – have a “start up” mindset
  • Proactive, quick thinking and problem solver
  • Comfortable working in a changing environment with some immature processes
  • Curious, ambitious and a team player
  • Ambitious and desire to grow in the role by learning on the job
